Q: is it outpatient or do you stay there for awhile? i dont need this question answered anymore...my grandmother had a clogged atrery and she went today for sergury and shes okay thank God!
A: If this is an elective procedure with stents deployed you typically stay overnight. If its a diagnostic study to see if blockages exist, you usually go home the same day (assuming there were no complications or severe artery blockages). Lastly if you have arteries unclogged in the context of an acute heart attack, you will be in the hospital for at least a few days, depending on how severe (how much damage was done) the heart attack was.
