Really bad heart problems..?

Q: For about a year now, I've had chest problems. It would be between a dull & sharp pain and last for about 3-8 minutes. I went to the doctor and he said it is probably pleurisy & swelling around my lungs & heart. (but the thing is, all he did was listen to my heart. No tests were taken.) But these past 3 days, I've had them REALLY bad. It is now a very sharp pain, lasting for more than 3 hours. I went to the emergency room yesterday. They took blood, hooked me up to the machines, and gave me an IV full of some medication that is supposed to help with inflammation. The medication didn't work, and the doctors didn't know what was wrong. Today, it's hurt the worst. I've been in pain all day & the pain is now severe. I don't know what to do about it, I've taken medication for it already, and it doesn't help. I'm really scared & i need help identifying the problem. any ideas?

A: Hi, You can't take medication for something or an iv if they really don't know what they are treating. I don't know how old you are. I would start with your family dr and do a complete blood work and chem screen to start. An ekg and some xrays. Go from there.
